PROVO — A man who police say tried to keep a woman trapped in a bathroom and made her drink toilet water now faces numerous charges.

Sebastian Lee Jones, 25, of Provo, was charged Tuesday in 4th District Court with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, or in the alternative unlawful detention, a third-degree felony; two counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony; possession of a weapon by a restricted person, spitting at an officer and two counts of assault on an officer, all class A misdemeanors; and criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor.

On Friday, Provo police were called to a domestic violence situation, according to charging documents.

“Witnesses reported that the victim had run out of her apartment with blood running down her face. When (Jones) saw (the) victim outside the apartment, he yelled, ‘How did you get out of that prison I made for you?’” the charges state.

When officers arrived, they discovered the woman had been hit by Jones with a glass bottle “which broke the victim’s false teeth while they were in her mouth. The victim had injuries to her forearm, head, chest and neck,” according to charging documents.

The woman told officers she ran into her bathroom after being assaulted and locked the door. Jones then used a kitchen knife to “repeatedly stab the door, 19 times, until he could see her inside the bathroom. (He) forced the victim to drink water out of the toilet with the threat that he would kill her,” the charges state.

Jones then tied an electrical cord to the door knob in an attempt to trap her and threatened to “torture the victim for three months and then kill her,” according to the charges.

When Jones left the apartment, the woman was able to escape and ran to neighbors for help. When he was arrested, Jones also “threatened to torture and kill multiple officers and spit into the face of the arresting officer,” the charges state.

The arrest was the latest in a recent series of run-ins with police, most for domestic violence, according to court records.

He pleaded guilty on May 22 in 4th District Court to assault in a domestic violence case and was sentenced to a suspended jail sentence and probation, according to court records.

Jones was charged July 1 in Provo Justice Court with trespassing and disorderly conduct. He was charged Monday in Orem Justice Court with criminal mischief and committing domestic violence in the presence of a child.

On July 10, Jones was arrested for failing to stop at the command of police. At that time, he had “an active no bail Board of Pardons warrant,” according to a police affidavit.
