Certain areas of Monterey warned not to drink the water - Monterey Herald

lemperbon.blogspot.com

MONTEREY — For the next couple of days officials want residents of specific neighborhoods in Monterey to boil water or use bottled water for drinking or cooking because of a water main break on Aguajito Road Tuesday night.

The affected areas are Aguajito Oaks, Aguajito Road, Del Monte, Deer Flats, Fisherman’s Flats, Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey Peninsula College, La Mesa, Monterey Country Fairgrounds, Oak Grove and  Sylvan-Castro.

Officials warn that drinking water in these areas without boiling can cause stomach or intestinal illness. The water is safe for bathing or hand washing, officials said.

The alert is issued by the drinking water division of the State Water Resources Control Board, the Monterey County Health Department, and California American Water.

Restoration of clean water supplies is expected by the end of the day Friday.
