The 4th Avenue District will host the Saturday, Nov. 14 edition of the popular outdoor block party, which is a partnership with economic development group Urban Impact. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., patrons can drink and dine at a selection of restaurants, food trucks, and vendors on 4th Ave. The designated area stretches from the intersection of 16th Street North and 4th Avenue to the intersection of 4th Avenue and 18th Street.

Participating restaurants for the Fourth Avenue Business District’s Eat in the Streets include:

  • Green Acres
  • Gabriella’s
  • Nelson Brothers Cafe
  • Dawson’s Burgers, Wings and Fries

Food trucks and vendors for Saturday’s event include Underground Vegan, the Dirty Red, and Travis Chicago Style. A DJ will also be present.

The city will require patrons to wear masks inside of Saturday’s “Eat in the Streets” corridor (Participants will not have to wear the masks while eating and drinking). Alabama has extended its mandatory mask order through Friday, Dec. 11, although the amended order removes the limited emergency operation rates for retailers, gyms, fitness and entertainment venues. Restaurants that have dividers have also been permitted to increase the number of patrons allowed inside. Six foot distancing and masks are still required.

Since Birmingham launched “Eat in the Streets” as a pilot program in Avondale over the summer, the outdoor dining event has expanded into a rotating outdoor pop-up block party around the city with movies and live music. Over the past few months, Avondale, Pepper Place, and the 200 block of downtown Birmingham have all hosted editions of “Eat in the Streets.”
