The novel coronavirus pandemic has cost us our casino buffets — you know, the opportunity to grab a pair of tongs and transfer the contents of a pan of iced shrimp onto your plate.

But there are compensations.

Casino Pauma in northern San Diego County has repurposed its buffet space and made room for a new restaurant with a menu inspired by the state of Oaxaca in Mexico.

Riverside and San Bernardino Counties saw some more COVID-related closures recently, but there are openings, too. And, in spite of this summer’s earliest launch ever of pumpkin spice season, there are still seasonal treats landing on menus.

Here are some of the highlights in Inland dining news.
