Each year on Sept. 29, Americans get a handy excuse to do something that many of us already do every day.
The National Coffee Association says that 64% of Americans drink coffee, and by at least one estimate about 400 million cups of coffee are consumed in the country each day.
If you are one of those who rely on coffee to make it through the day, you are in luck: Tuesday is National Coffee Day.
In Garland, there’s no shortage of coffee shops and cafes. Here are a few you should check out.
Scooter’s Coffee
If you prefer to grab your coffee and keep on the move, Scooter’s is a good option for you. Founded in Bellevue, Nebraska, in 1998, Scooter’s is a chain with both sit-down cafes and drive-through pods. Garland’s Scooter’s is a drive-through, and a regular hot coffee costs between $1.95 and $2.55, depending on what size you order. Scooter’s also offers pumpkin spice lattes, candy bar lattes, cold varieties of coffee and all sorts of sweet brews.

Fifth Avenue Nutrition is partially known for its large selection of vegan, sugar-free, keto-friendly and gluten-free treats, but the shop can also serve up a mean cup of coffee. Although the Modern Well is located in neighboring Rowlett, it’s only a short drive away from Garland. A 12-ounce drip coffee will run you $2.50, but prices start going up the fancier the coffee you order. A 16-ounce latte, for instance, costs $5. The Modern Well has all the hot and cold options you can find at most coffee joints: iced Americanos, macchiatos and cortados, among others.
