As the citywide water boil advisory enters Day 5, residents are still wondering, when will Bossier City water be safe to drink?

Official statements from the City administration have only provided vague guidance so far.

The water boil advisory will remain “in place until the system is allowed to regain full pressure and proper testing can take place to assure the normal water quality and quantity are obtained,” Bossier City CAO Pam Glorioso said in a release Saturday morning.

But while Shreveport and Caddo Parish officials distribute bottled water to their residents, Bossier City seems to be taking the stance of “let nature do its job,” and wait for a thaw to solve our drinking water issues.

Of all Bossier Parish governments, only the Town of Benton has said it will provide drinking water to its citizens. Benton residents can obtain bottled water at the Public Services building at 302 Fifth Street at 11 a.m. today.

Perhaps the best explanation offered publicly so far of how and when the Bossier City boil advisory will be lifted has come from mayoral candidate Tommy Chandler, who posted a note on social media.

“My understanding is that the leaks have to be fixed, the system has to be pressured up, any new leaks have to be discovered and fixed, and once this is done a sample of the water is taken and it takes 72 hours to get the test results back,” Chandler wrote on Facebook.

If that is indeed the case, Bossier City is at least three days away from the boil advisory being lifted.
