Please do not drink and drive this Labor Day weekend, plan ahead.
Alcohol is a substance that reduces the function of the brain, that impairs your ability to think clearly, it reduces muscle coordination and the smallest amount of alcohol can affect your ability to drive.
From 2009-2019, more than 10,000 people die every year in drunk-driving crashes according to the NHTSA.
I published an article on Dec. 31, 2018 titled "Celebrate The New Year Without Planning A Funeral. Do Not Drink And Drive In The Volunteer State". When I was writing the article I reached out to a few friends that know very well what one can face if charged with a DUI.
From the DA, to a couple of criminal court judges, to a few in law enforcement, all of which have seen their fair share of what drunk driving can cause. Death, consequences, regret, all of the things that can come from being charged with a DUI and or being convicted is not something that you want on your record. Driving while intoxicated can result in up to $10,000 in legal fees and keep you continually in the justice system, and the worst of all that is that you could kill folks. Another response was,"The life that you save could be your own life by not drinking and driving." "Judge Statom, I believe that you must make the decision not to drive before you take your first drink, then you will be making a good decision." Those were just a few of the responses, all of which are very clear on what drunk driving does.
Drinking and driving hits home for me, because I lost a grandmother that I never got to meet because she was killed by a drunk driver. She was only 55 years old and she left behind 10 kids, and a husband. All of which could of been avoided if one person had made the choice to not drink and drive. The choice is yours and I hope that you make the right one, and help save lives.
Sober Rides is a website that will track your location, and it will give you the option to phone a friend, call a cab, rideshare, whichever you choose. It will help you plan ahead before the drinking starts. There are so many options that will help you arrive home safely at the end of the night. Please take the time to check them out.
Save lives and do not drink and drive.
Arrive safe, and enjoy your Labor Day weekend.
Peace love and happiness to all.
