AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Although it's been a tough couple of months, a local restaurant in downtown Augusta, the Pineapple Ink Tavern was still able to keep its doors open.  Located on the corner of 10th and Broad, this new spot is sure to satisfy your craving for not only tasty food but mesmerizing artwork.

One of the best parts of the local restaurant is its owners, Alan Soto, and Brandon Smith. Both combined their backgrounds in the arts to build the restaurant and blended them together perfectly. Smith also serves as the executive chef, he says he developed his passion for food at a young age, "I never stopped playing with food."

According to Smith the meaning behind the name Pineapple Ink Tavern means 'come on in.' "Pineapple, the symbol of hospitality, it means to come on in, it's a welcoming symbol. The ink just pays the homage of the art of Augusta and what we wanted to do," Smith says.

The co-owners say when the building was first purchased, they restored and refurbished it with checkered floors, fluorescent lights, and decor to create an artsy and edgy neighborhood restaurant, where anyone is welcomed.

"Come as you are, sit around, have some good food, and have some good drinks. Enjoy yourself, be yourself," Soto says. Smith added it's all about the pineapple, "If you look around, there's more pineapple that meets the eye in this place."

The co-owners also tell FOX 54 that the menu options are extensive and the items are over the top tasty.
