Like most other holidays that have occurred in the last few months, Cinco de Mayo will look a little different this year. Rather than bustling, tequila-soaked bars — which still closed by Governor Abbott’s executive orders — celebrations are being fueled by restaurants offering food to-go, cocktail kits, and more.

  • Contigo Catering: The catering department of essential Mueller-area restaurant Contigo has a variety of tacos like al pastor cauliflower and macha chicken, along with ancho margaritas. Order online for pickup. (3709 Promontory Point, Southeast Austin)
  • El Alma: The popular Mexican spot on Barton Springs Road has party packs that feed six and include tamales, rice, beans, chips and salsa, and party favors, as well as margarita kits. Order online for pickup. (1025 Barton Springs Road, Bouldin)
  • El Camaron: The taco delivery service has a Cinco de Mayo package that includes tacos salsa, chips, two sides, margarita mix, and mango cupcakes or brownies. Order online for delivery.
  • Loro: The Asian smokehouse has paired with local gluten-free food company Siete for an event called “Juntos at Home: Austin Amor.” Loro is offering a taco kit (choose from bavette, prawn, or chicken) with Siete tortillas, Sieta habanero sauce, and shishito and cabbage slaw, with optional margarita kits. There’s also a virtual concert. The event supports HAAM and Central Texas Food Bank. Order online for pickup. (2115 South Lamar Boulevard, South Lamar)
  • Pascal’s Catering: The catering company has many menu options for Cinco de Mayo including breakfast tacos, smoked pork tamales, queso, and more. Order online. (630 Ralph Ablanedo Drive, South Austin)
  • Santa Rita Cantina: The Rosedale Mexican restaurant has two packages that include chicken and beef tacos, rice and beans, chips, salsa, and chile con queso, and two margaritas. Order online for pickup. (1206 West 38th Street, Rosedale)
  • The League Kitchen & Tavern: All three locations (Belterra, Avery Ranch and Lakeway) of the casual restaurant have a party pack that feeds 4 to 6 and includes hatch chile pork enchiladas, a nacho bar, tres leches, and a margarita kit. Order online.
  • Nixta Taqueria, Cuantos Tacos, and Discada: The powerhouse trio that make some of the city’s best tacos are teaming up to offer three combination packages of their tacos paired with Austin Beerworks La Verdad Mexican lager. Unfortunately, they are currently sold out for pre-order.
