The group studied over 5,000 adults and discovered that those who consumed more sugar-filled soft drinks had shorter telomeres, which are located at the end of a chromosome and are related to faster aging.
The final conclusion from the APHA was that consuming soda on a regular basis may contribute to the aging of your cells, which may in turn increase your chances of metabolic disease.
But don't worry, the silver lining is that diet sodas didn't seem to have the same negative effect on the participants' telomeres and aging.

Although there is no miracle drink that will slow your aging process, there are choices that will have far more health benefits and fewer negative side effects than soda.
For example, drinking green tea has been known to speed up metabolism and aid in weight loss and natural cherry juice has been found to help with inflammation. And, of course, it's always important to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water every day.
