KALAMAZOO, MI-- -- For more than two weeks, restaurants and bars across Michigan have grappled with the challenge of keeping their businesses open while complying with the state’s indoor dining ban.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services three-week partial shutdown, aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19, took effect Nov. 18 and is scheduled to expire on Tuesday, Dec. 8.

Establishments have adjusted their businesses to serve patrons via curbside pickup, takeout, delivery and some have even kept their patios open, despite colder temperatures. In addition to carry-out food, many restaurants have been serving to-go drinks as well.

In June, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed off on cocktails-to-go legislation to give a boost to businesses that have suffered financially due to the pandemic. The legislation allows people to purchase cocktails from bars and restaurants via pick-up or delivery. The state already permitted the sell of unopened beer and wine.

Here are a handful of local establishments that offer drinks-to-go.
