Syracuse, N.Y. — Central New Yorkers proved Friday night that they’re ready to have fun again. Thousands showed up to help resurrect our Irish Fest in downtown Syracuse’s Clinton Square.
It’s been two years since the city had any festivals downtown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. On Friday, that seemed like years ago. Folks were ready to have fun. And they did.
“We’re back, and God willing, we’re back for good,” said emcee Chow Downey before introducing Enter the Haggis, the night’s headlining act. “This is long overdue.”
The two-day festival features local and national acts, including headliner The Moxie Strings, The Public House and Enter The Haggis. Local Irish dance groups are also performing as vendors sell food, drinks and Irish goods.
Irish Fest resumes today with a Mass at 11 a.m. Music starts at noon. Enter The Haggis, which ended Friday’s concert, closes the show again tonight. They take the main stage at 9:30 p.m. You can see the day’s schedule here.
